i uploaded actually a few videos from my hp photosmart (not so smart). i’ve been trying to open it with windows photo gallery. i do have vista. is there something wrong here??

HP cameras usually record video in either Motion JPEG (MJPEG) or MPEG format.

What appears to be happening is that your computer is not decoding the video, just the sound.

First, try the hp website at http://www.hp.com/support and see if they have any vista updates for your camera. If that works, great. If not, then the next thing to do is to look on the Internet for the proper video decoder called a "codec" (Codec stands for coder-decoder). Find out in what format your camera records video, then do a search for that codec. (i.e. if it’s mpeg, look for mpeg codecs to download).

However, try the hp website first.
